The latest craze

The supermarket retailer has launched several collections ie the Jamie Oliver plates, some glasses collection and knives etc, but in my opinion nothing is as successful as the Dream Works collection and currently the Super Animals cards. What's more there's a sound in every card.
Just about every kid is collecting this at the moment, so parents have to shop their groceries at certain supermarkets.  You get 4 cards every $20 you spend.

And of course you need to purchase the album to put the cards and it has lots of activities.  This time, there is even the soundcard reader which is a little machine. (see pic below) The reader produces the sound of each animals when the bar code on the animal card is swiped.
Above is the album.  The retailer is donated $1 from every album to the SPCA which is for a good cause.

Inside the album, there is pocket sleeves for each categories.  Animals are classified in its category and has symbols to show the animal status ie Polar Bear is categorised under the Fiercest, but the status is also showing Polar Bear is facing high risk of extinction in the wild. It has little Did you know bubble fact about each animal too.

We are still 7 cards away from completing the collection and the box above is all the doubles /spare cards.  I put them in takeaway boxes so the boys can take them out to use it with their sound reader. By the way, you can even decorate the sound card reader with stickers provided.

Altogether there are 108 cards to collect, they range from 12 cards in each categories such as Fastest, Toughest, Deadliest, Smartest, Fiercest, Weirdest, Sneakiest, Loudest, Showiest.

Happy last day @ Kidszone, Abel

This draft post has been sitting unpublished.  I thought I would share about Abel's last day.

Abel finished at Kidszone on 30 January 2015.   I baked a cake for him to share with his friends. I cheated a little. I bought two packs of the Edmonds cake mix.  I specifically used the Edmonds Classic Butter Cake and Moist Chocolate Cake.
I used two sandwich tin and baked according to the instruction.  I was pleasantly surprised that the cake did not dome and in fact looked rather nice when I layered them.

I made chocolate buttercream frosting in the morning and frosted hastily.  With my limited cake decorating skills, I just used hundreds and thousands and smarties and some chocolate fingers to decorate the cake. Not bad for a last minute job, aye?

Below is what the cake looks like inside.

One of my favourite photo of Abel chilling out with Paddington at Kidszone :)

Taranaki Anniversary

We had French toast with bacon rashers and passion fruit from the garden. It's a little strange as the French toast is sweet but bacon is salty and passion fruit a little sour. Nevertheless, I think they complement each other well .

For lunch, we had leftover paella from last night.

And for dinner, we found this fish from the freezer so I decided to cook curry fish with the tomatoes and eggplant sitting in my vegetable crisper. This dish is very mild, even my boys say they are not spicy.
